An Open Letter to Tavli Players

Subject: A World Champion

Greetings,

My name is Nicholas G. Alexiou.  I am a retired physician and I have undertaken a mission to promote and elevate the game of Tavli to a world class status.  I began this effort in 2006 in Macedonia, Greece when I was asked to sponsor a Tavli contest.  It was a success and since then the village has conducted two more annual contests to everyone's satisfaction.

The first question that arose was: "Who is the World Champion?"  No one knew!  I said that I would find out  I turned to the computer and did exhaustive searches on Google and Yahoo.  I have not found anyone who knows of a World Champion, so I decided to develop such a status position for the world to know about Tavli, the game of kings and nobles.

I surveyed my community to find Tavli players and to sponsor Tavli Tournaments to find a champion.  I prepared a directory of places that welcome Tavli players and distributed that directory throughout the community.

Next, I published on my website (www.worldtavli.com) an invitation to anyone in the world to help me develop a world Tavli directory.  So if you read this, and wish to be included as a Tavli playing center for your country or community, please send me your information to (alexiounicholas@yahoo.com).  I will begin a World Wide Directory for Tavli players and contests.
